How to create a Windows 10 or any Windows UEFI boot using Rufus

Alternatively, if the Media Creation Tool isn’t working, you can Download the Windows 10 ISO file and then use the Rufus tool to create an installation with UEFI support.

To create a Windows 10 install media with support for UEFI, connect a USB flash drive with at least 4GB of space, and then use these steps:

1. Open the official Rufus page.
2. Double-click the Rufus.exe file to launch the tool.
3. Under “Device,” select the USB flash drive with at least 4GB or 8GB of space.

4. Under “Boot selection,” click the Select button on the right.

5. Click the Open button.
6. Use the “Image option” drop-down to select the Standard Windows installation option.
7. Use the “Partition scheme and target system type” drop-down to select the GPT option.
8. Use the “Target system” drop-down to select the UEFI (non CSM) option.
9. Under the “Show Advanced drive properties” section, leave the default settings.
10. Under the “Volume label” field, enter a descriptive name for the drive. For Example, “win10_install_usb.”
11. Under the “File system” and “Cluster size” section, leave the default settings.
12. Click the Show advanced format options button, and make sure that “Quick format” and “Create extended label and icon files” options are selected.
13. Click the Start button.
14. Click the OK button to confirm that the USB flash drive will be wiped out.
15. After completing the steps, the Rufus tool will create a bootable media, which you can then use to install Windows 10 on devices using UEFI.
